Have not been here yet, but its run by the Bartolotta group, who have many great places around Milwaukee. I'm told the beer cheese soup is to die for.
Good sandwiches for a quick lunch. Forget the chains, eat here if you are around and craving a sammy.
Awesome rooftop dining (or inside) in the Third Ward. Love their sandwiches and burgers paired with frites and sriracha mayo.
Very popular place with exposure on some of the food networks, and the burgers are pretty good. Worth a visit if you are in town.
Of the handful of great mexican cuisine around the area, this is by far my favorite. I always seem to get the "poor tacos" marinated pork, cilantro, onion on flour tortilla.

Great place for a good breakfast (served all day), sandwhich and coffee. I prefer the Mexican Mocha (hot or cold).
A nice sushi place on west side of the river by the third and fifth ward borders. Try the Screaming Tuna Signature rolls or the Wasabi Rolls. Very hot, very nice ;)
Same owners as AJ Bombers, some damn good BBQ. It doesnt compare to Stubbs, or Iron Works in Austin, TX, but this is the next best thing. All the meats are good, I like the house BBQ sauce.
Another good sushi place. The rolls here are huge, this is a good place to take a big crowd if you can get in.

I once had a very very good steak here, but they are more known for the excellent beer. This is the Milwaukee Brewing Company's flagship pub and eatery. It screams local brews and deserves a visit.
Hands down my favorite local coffee place(s). Eric, the owner of Stone Creek has a mantra that him and all of this employees follow: Grow. Roast. Brew. Sip.
This is the more popular coffee place (based on their expansion around the city), so if you cant find Stone Creek, Alterra is probably going to be the next step. Again, skip the chains, try the locals
Elsa's has been here for years, and is THE upperscape burger joint in the city. I'm not sure why it took me so long to have one of their burgers, but they are delicious.
A fairly new place in the Fifth Ward, its a nice little cafe with a variety of items on the menu.
