The Historical City Centre of Guimarães, UNESCO World heritage classified on 13 December 2001 is the most reproductive and lasting investment in the city.
The gambeson of D. João I and the silver gilt triptych offered by this king to the Colegiada de N.Srª da Oliveira (14th century) are the most emblematic pieces and the ones that “deserve every visit”.
The current walls of the city are remnants of those that encircled Guimarães during the reign of Kings Dom Dinis and Dom João I, in the 14th and 15th centuries. Some say they are from the 10thcentury.
