The ever-impressive magazine The Journal hosts regular shows at this modestly-sized but well-curated gallery. It's also within walking distance of an absurd number of great bars (dive and otherwise).
One of the first Williamsburg galleries, Pierogi is also one of the best. One of its artists, Dawn Clements, was a star at the 2010 Whitney Biennial.
Besides the award-winning theatre and dance productions, BAM's also a great place just to see a movie, because usually it's filled with (respectful) film nerds - even new releases.
