The entrance is free. You can pay only for the map, which worth doing,'coz the gallery's huge. All the collections are brilliant and the shop afterwords is quite nice:)

Mandatory stop, is just wonderful! Book a half day to enjoy Monet, Van Gogh and Cezanne. Same level as Met and Louvre!

This art gallery on Trafalgar Square has more than 2,000 paintings from as early as the 13th century. Highlights include Da Vinci's The Virgin of the Rocks and Van Gogh's Sunflowers. Opens at 10 am.

You can easily spend the better part of a day enjoying the beautiful paintings on display. George Bellows, Seurat, Constable and Van Gogh are personal favourites.

Sensacional e de graça. Museu comparável ao Met e ao Louvre. Não deixe de ver os quadros de Michelangelo, Rafael e Leonardo. Também possui obras primas medievais.

In case you wandered in too fast to notice the key on your way in, the wallpaper in each room is colour coded by time periods: BLUE = 1250-1500, RED = 1600-1700, GREEN = 1700-1900.

I love it! The two times I was in London I needed to visit and see my favorite painting: Les Parapluies. Reserve at least a whole evening to fully appreciate the museum.

An art museum on Trafalgar Square, definitely take one of the free guided tours at 11:30AM or 2:30PM. Get there via Charing Cross stop on the Bakerloo or Northern lines.

A lovely place to visit. It's massive, so put on comfy shoes. Also, no photography of any kind is allowed which is a bummer and sort of nonsensical.

Walk back to Trafalgar Square and join the free 60-minute taster tour at the National Gallery (nationalgallery.org.uk), which houses the superb collection of 600 years of Western European art.

A must when going to London. Personally I was deeply touched by "The execution of Lady Jean Grey" (room 41). Funfact: Room 34 holds the painting by J.M. William Turner that appears in the film Skyfall

I love small-scale models and if you enter on the much quieter, less busy Orange St. entrance you will see the model of Trafalgar Square once you ascend the stairs.

A wonderful selection of art from the medieval to modern. Some very famous pieces on display, and the building is beautiful in itself.

Best to start with room 58 area (Italian 1500s boticelli) and then work your way down the ages. Open till 9pm on Friday nights!

As you enter the gallery, can you spot "Cimabue's Celebrated Madonna", painted by Lord Leighton Frederic from 1853-1855. It purchased by Queen Victoria & is on loan to the Gallery

Don't miss Hogarth's marriage a-la-mode serie, Turner's sunrise, Rosa's witches or Da Vinci's angel. Impressionists' rooms are great but tend to get overcrowded.

Can't even say how cool it is to be able to see the word famous pictures for free. Better to visit in August (not weekends) - no crowd you'll see

The building that houses the portraits is a work of art itself. Lots of mosaic work on the floors and walls of the stairwells. Look up often.
