In 1926, 6 students organized the Student Dairy Association (SDA), which furnished milk to private customers. Members brought their cows to campus and students earned part of their college expenses.

Peter Hurd, a native of Roswell, NM, left behind a poignant tribute to the hardy South Plains pioneers in the fresco mural painted for the walls of the rotunda. Imagine being a pioneer in those days.
The Southwest Conference Circle contains the teams which comprised the SWC. It was built when Tech was admitted into the SWC in 1956. It was the site of pep rallies and spirit events for years.
Since 1982, the grounds & gardens have been open dawn until dusk. Enjoy a relaxing lunch on one of the benches or a stroll along the garden’s lush paths.
