Get the train to downtown Amsterdam. It takes only 30 minutes. You can lock your stuff in a locker.
Airtrain it back to Manhattan if you're travelling solo. It takes an hour and it's only $7 compared to a $50 cab where you can get stuck in traffic. Just follow the signs.
The airport is bigger than it looks. Be sure to move quickly in between connections.
Avoid the long security lines in Terminal C by going upstairs the escalators and towards parking. There is another check point there straight into E and back to C (if needed).

Interesting place--German's have an impressive ability to down beer for breakfast.
If you have to go to the city center by public transport, the cheapest way is the bus, just in front of the exit. The journey is 40 minutes, price 7-8 € one way.
While you're waiting, take a look around at the Art & Ambience program at EIA. The airport regularly brings in new art from around Edmonton and the North.
Eat before you pass thru security. After that, it's prewrapped sandwiches and donuts.
best way to fly out of Toronto. Porter is an awesome airline and the lounge has free WIFI and snacks.
Look for the seats with plug icons, they have power outlets and USB hook ups underneath.
US departure section has nothing in it - just a crappy coffee shop. Go through customs as late as you can. Chicago and Philly flight often delayed/cancelled, check online before leaving home
PDX has two security gates. If it's busy at one, the other is usually dead. There's a connecting hallway around back so you can still get to your gate.
The fish tank just outside of security in terminal B is killer. Love the cameras that show the way fish see u!
The Legends of Aviation restaurant / bar in the Long Beach Airport is a great place to go, even if you're not flying.
Get downtown in 17 mins for just $1. Take the Cap Metro airport flyer bus #100. stop is at the front of passenger pickup
the subway is like $3.75 and will take you right downtown. cabs are like $40 and the shuttle is $21. go public transportation. upstairs by ticketing.
If you know how to travel, use the expert lane. It's crazy fast.
Out-of-towners: If you have lots of time to kill before your flight, don't go through security right away. There are more shopping & food options in the center mall area than by the gates.
Probably the best airport for mobile devices I've been to. Most of the seating in each terminal has electrical outlets to charge your phone or laptop.
Public art (airplanes) on way to D concourse are great. And could use some cleaning.
If you have a long layover go to the air and space museum. 12 minute shuttle ride from airport 1 USD round trip and soooo much more interesting than staring at a billboard
Fly in to DCA sitting on the left side of the plane and fly out sitting on the right. You'll have the best views for takeoff and landing.
There are 3 security checkpoints. If the main one is busy, head to the checkpoint on the first floor near gate 1.
If you run out of battery in your cell phone there are free charging stations both in arrivals and departures hall. You will find plugs for most cell phone brands as well regular electricity plugs.
