Village Voice: Vegetables (a.k.a. dirt candy) are the stars of this menu, and as freaky as it may sound, one of the best dishes is (drumroll): tiramisu with eggplant.
Village Voice: The menu changes monthly to use in-season produce; hope that Kajitsu keeps the Lotus Roots and Golden Beets on the menu from January 2013!
Village Voice: On the pricier end of market restaurants, but this is NYC. Cough up the dough for the Semolina Gnocchi or the Charred Eggplant. It’s worth it.
Village Voice: Wait...the pastry chef put straight-up vegetables in a dessert!? But the Sticky Toffee Cake with Sweet Parsnips is sophisticated and delicious.
Village Voice: The menu changes daily, but if by chance you spot the parsnips, cut and cooked to look and taste like risotto…well…get them while you can.
Village Voice: Really hungry? Or maybe just really hungover? Get the Sabich: a pita overflowing with fried eggplant, hard-boiled egg, salad and hummus.
