As an Exchange Student from German I can fully approve the quality of this restaurant 😉 The Schnitzel, Potato Pancakes, Roulade and Bratwurst are very good and like at home!
on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 7-9pm, Silvia plays German tunes on the accordion for guests. She's absolutely adorable and so fun.
In addition to the restaurant in back, there is a pretty substantial German grocery portion in the front, complete with toiletries, deli items, and ice cream.
Great service! I love being called "dear" by a lady I don't know. I recommend the Austrian potato salad, potato pancakes, red cabbage, kaese spaetzli and venison sausage.
Place is AMAZING. Real European food, a bakery w Sachet torte, nut and apple strudels, a grocery, a cosmetics counter, a bar w live music . . . And good food. Nice.

Beer? That's nice. Beer is everywhere in the city. But schnitzel, goulash, and spaetzli? Its the kaiser's own food, the Holy Roman Empire right here in downtown D.C.
Hoagies are an Italian-American invention, but the 'German Cold Cut Hoagie' here is worth a try. This version piles German luncheon meat and Swiss cheese high on a soft roll.

Do *not* get the "vegetable patty platter"! The vegetable patty is a regular old commercial veggie burger, heated up and served plain with no sauce or anything (and not even one of the better brands).
