- they have two tiers of omakase here, one of which is a real splurge ($85), but the other one you can kinda justify as a nice night out ($45). and it's all delicious. some of the best sushi in nyc.
- Michellee C2월 18, 2016Great omakase for the value. 85$ for 15 pieces and a hand roll. Chef Hideo made my fantasy a reality when he married scallop and uni in one piece 😍. A taste of heaven!
- Celena Chan7월 30, 2015A great omakase deal, ask to sit with chef David, the owner. Make reservations weeks in advance. He is extremely friendly! Good food, good times!
- Jason Su7월 26, 2022Great 15 piece + hand roll omakase. Would come back again, good value relative to other omakases.
- Morgan McKee4월 23, 2019Wanted to come here for the <$100 omakase but boyf insisted on the chef’s choice. Very good stuff, and traditional, small spot. I would say you can get just as good for moderately cheaper
- Michellee C2월 18, 2016Besides the omakase, try the uni flight from diff regions of the world and the tuna tartar where the special soy sauce is already mixed in the tuna scramble and pairs perfectly with fried seaweed.
- Carly Chan Liu2월 16, 201515 piece omakase for $90 is pretty good in NYC. Great sushi (reminded us of Japan) in a fun environment. We bonded with our chef, Takeshi, over sake.
- Andrew Wong7월 11, 201912 piece omakase had very fresh fish (with ohtoro and uni), very filling, and great value. I especially liked the wagyu fried rice, which had rice beef flavor but not overpowering the rice.
- I love this place. Food is fantastic and fresh, and he has some new, inventive takes on Japanese dishes. Sushi chefs and service are great. Been three times now, and have consistently been impressed.
- AmateurConcierge1월 30, 2015The sushi is definitely solid but the omakase ($90) isn't that big of a steal, price wise. Instead get the deluxe 10 piece sushi for $45 and add a side or two. I loved the tempura
- Jennifer Nguyen10월 27, 2013Great quality, affordable, & laid back atmosphere. Get the omakase! Chef David & female Chef Hiromi gave us a great experience. We will be back for sure!
- Lauren8월 2, 2018Two omakase offerings are only available at the bar, including the $90 chef’s choice of 15 pieces of sushi and a hand roll (there’s also sushi and sashimi for $120).
- Janet Cheung9월 6, 2014Wonderful! Get the omakase sets and let the chef do the deciding! Good quality but small so book ahead of time
- Emily Wilson12월 10, 2016Stay a while, drink lots of sake, and rowdiness will ensue. Omakase is a worth it here—first for the fresh, inventive sushi, second for the fun of it all.
- Melody Han9월 19, 2015Three pieces from the omakase that I can't stop thinking about: perfectly seared salmon, scallop and uni, Maine uni. The sake somm is excellent.
- Susan Kim3월 26, 2014Grilled hamachi, duck dish, tofu dish, orange clams, and uni was all so delicious. Service was outstanding . I will definitely return anf recommend to friends.
- Clara Pyo8월 27, 2016Sushi is great. Weird vibes tho, blasting techno and saw all the workers take shots of sake with the customers and the manager walking around promoting sake. lol wuhh
- High quality sushi, downtown sensibilities. David knows his sushi, and I have also had wonderful experiences with Hiromi at the bar. If you're here for sushi, go the omakase route.
- The 4 types of Uni were the best that night and I usually don't get all Uni gaga. Omakase in 50 minutes at a decent price.
- Jane Katz1월 7, 2016the $45 omakase is a great value... appetizers are not worth it (tried tuna tartare and pork belly). Ask them to taste some sake!
- Akhil Dharwadkar2월 8, 2014Amazing food, amazing ambiance, amazing chefs. Only go if you can handle so much raw fish. I love it, so I loved the place.
- Melissa Rosenthal3월 23, 2015One of my favorite sushi spots in the city. Quality and service is impeccable.
- I was skeptical - how well a white dude can make sushi? But David proved me wrong. It is solid. Just go with the omakase. U are in good hands
- Caroline2월 10, 2015Best of VV. Better to sit at the sushi bar and let Bouhadana give you a lesson as he turns out a modestly priced omakase feast.
- Village Voice9월 12, 2013Chef David has classical training in Japan and will tailor a wide variety of his fresh fish selection to fit your sushi desires.
- No Leftovers Jackie Gebel1월 11, 2017Great value for Omakase. Changed since the chef left, but the quality is AmAzing and fun spot!
- Dylan Stilin12월 13, 2014Great sushi and omakase. Easily competes with the sushi's top Japanese restaurants (and at a fraction of the cost).
- Max10월 8, 2015Incredible omakase with life changing rice. Make sure to get a reservation in front of Dave at the bar.
- Jen2월 20, 2014Do get the omakase, don't get anything on the appetizer menu. Both the uni croquette and shishito peppers were meh
- Jack Klauber9월 25, 2013Hands down best sushi ever. EVER! Make sure to get a seat at the sushi bar with Sushi Master David Bouhadana. Incredible.
- K Tran10월 5, 2014Masterfully considered and prepared sushi. Will make you want to swim in a pool of uni after this.
- Rishi Satsangi1월 19, 2015This is one of those "executive" sushi joints. High quality but super pricey and just feels like a place an executive would take a client to impress them.
- The staff is great. Just get the omakasa and let the sushi chefs select the best fishes of the day for you.
- suneel12월 21, 2013best value for high end sushi in nyc. very hospitable. their miso soup is amazing as well.
- Matt O'Neill5월 3, 2015Omakase & 90s rave music - interesting combo. If you're serving traditional sushi - it needs to be fresh, Dojo's fish just doesn't cut it. More creativity might help mask the bland tastes
- Angela Z.7월 18, 2013Remember to request a seat at the sushi counter with Chef David! Dojo Omakase was amazing and the staff is super attentive.
- Eric Chu8월 13, 2014Omakase is delicious and some of the most affordable high-quality in the city. Sit at the bar.
- Bruce Dugan11월 17, 2015Sushi Dojo reopens, but fires David Bouhadana -- Bouhadana:http://sushidojonyc.com/sushi-dojo-nyc-fires-chef-david-bouhadana-and-reopens-in-east-village-nyc
- The BEST bang for your buck sushi Omakase in NYC. Wow. #magical - the Foodie Magician
- Meg Farmer10월 7, 2014The fish is fresh & the Tuna tartar is out of this world, but honestly I think I missed what all the hype is about. I don't have any complaints, but perhaps my expectations were a bit high.
- Alex Bresler4월 10, 2014Mad love to David Bouhadana and sushidojo hesitant about giving sushi love this place EARNED IT!!
- Emily K.5월 13, 2015Not crazy about the music, the ambiance is whatever, but the sushi is FANTASTIC, and a great value.
