1. Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa
Brian Duncan: Oh my. We love this museum. We often go after dinner just for an hour before it closes.
2. Picton
Brian Duncan: Underrated. Worth a night stay.
3. Nelson Classic Car Museum
Brian Duncan: Small but the original. Oddly the cars weren't bad either.
4. Labyrinth Rock Park
Brian Duncan: Really nice. The kids loved it. The funny little toys added much entertainment.
5. Eighty Eight
Brian Duncan: No doubt the best restaurant in the town. Come for happy hour. Lovely staff.
6. Fox Glacier Village
Brian Duncan: Don't go the see the glacier. Then you won't be disappointed. It's a cute town and a good overnight stay.
7. Puzzling World
Brian Duncan: Cheesy but oddly worth it. Cafe not up to New Zealand standards.
8. Arrowtown
Brian Duncan: We enjoyed the cafes, museum and Chinese settlement. Might have even stayed overnight if had known how boring Queenstown was.
9. Lakes District Museum
Brian Duncan: Small but full of artifacts. Don't forget the cheap gold pan rental. You won't find any gold but you can say you tried.
10. Seal Colony
11. The Store
Brian Duncan: Classic New Zealand cafe in the middle of nowhere. Worth the stop just to look at the ocean view out back.
12. Yealands Estate
Brian Duncan: Big. Take the car tour. Get out and feed the chickens and look over the cliff.
13. Interislander Ferry Terminal
14. Taupo
Brian Duncan: Show be s bigger town for all that goes on there. Don't get sick, the hospital stinks.
15. Red Bowl Asian Bistro
Brian Duncan: I would like to hate a chain restaurant but they really do have can eclectic and affordable lunch.
16. 롤리 더럼 공항 (RDU)
Brian Duncan: Better food choices than many airports but still a bit small and boring.
17. Sky Tower
18. MOTAT
19. Saffron
20. Glasshalfull
Brian Duncan: Everything. Try the sides they are all good.
21. Hilo Public Library
Brian Duncan: Pulls books from over 50 other smaller libraries. Not you bad.
22. Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park
Brian Duncan: Massive. But part is closed. Hard to figure out what to do when. The Rangers are your only hope.
23. Thurston Lava Tube
24. Waipiʻo Valley
25. Honoli'i Beach Park
26. Sombat's Fresh Thai Cuisine
27. Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park
28. Mauna Kea State Park
29. Pahoa Transfer Station Lava Viewing
Brian Duncan: No actual new lava here, but still worth the trip.
30. Herbert C. Shipman Park
Brian Duncan: Few parks have any equipment around Hilo. This one is one of the best, but still rather small.
