Alex Cavoulacos: This place is awesome. Tours are conducted in Japanese, with a book of translations provided. Don't be intimidated! The 40min tours show off all the cool hidden doors, stairs and traps!
Alex Cavoulacos: A must see! Hike partway up the mountain to experience the gates without the throngs of tourists. If you want to do the whole loop, allocate a good 1h30 since its ~4km up the mountain and back
Alex Cavoulacos: Don't worry if there's a line, tables move fast and there's a second floor with more room. And the conveyor belt full of sushi has English signs :) 🍣
Alex Cavoulacos: Call ahead to reserve (there are only a handful of tables), then arrive with an empty stomach and order their Shofu menu - it's the biggest one, and the only one which comes with Wagyu beef.
