Keep in mind that this spot can also work for sunset if you want a different (silhouette) viewing experience. Avoid the crowded bleachers and aim for the walk in front.
If you have the chance, also try a sunrise here - it's very beautiful too. And try to get here well before sunrise to catch the transition from night to first light to sunrise.

Stick around after sunset and do some stargazing before the park closes. It's not very long a wait at all to darkness and well worth it! Bring dinner (all the shops will be closed when you get back).
You need to be lucky!! I went here twice and the magic they talk ab is nowhere to be seen!!! For us there was just too many clouds. I came here at sep end!!!
