The menu consists basically of hearty pita sandwiches. A good low-budget lunch option. The garlic and mustard sauces were delicious.
Nice hot chocolate for breakfast. The pastéis de nata were not quite like the ones you have in Belém, but good enough.
The bulding by Victor Horta is worth the visit in itself. The museum also offers an extensive comic book library.
My favorite section: "Europe in daily life", where 54 European citizens tell about how EU's decisions have affected their lives.
Looks beautiful in Autumn, but must be an even better place to hang out when temperatures are higher.
Don't let the bland exterior and the queue discourage you - the interiors are truly mesmerizing. It's small, so the whole visit shouldn't take more than 40min. A pity that we can't take photos inside.
Any place that gives me free chocolate is a win in my book. However, after seeing and smelling so much of it, it's hard to resist the museum shop. 🍫
Try coming for lunch on a weekday - you might not even need a reservation then (but we did end up sharing our table). The beef with malt beer sauce was great and large enough for two. Excellent beer.
The guided tour is a good investment - for €5 you get a 6ml sample of eau de Cologne (on sale for €8 in the shop) and a brief, entertaining lesson in perfume making.
Everything happens at Alexanderplatz. A big public transport hub - you're probably going to pass by here on your way to somewhere else anyway, so don't miss it.
The uneven, increasingly lower ground only adds to the eerie feeling of the place. Notice also how none of the blocks are quite on square.
One of my favorite sights in Berlin. Many of its inhabitants were born in the zoo (usually a sign of well-adapted animals). Don't miss the feeding times!
