Small place for a quick after-work beer. There’s variety and good frankfurt bocadillos.
Burger porn. All are extremely good and tasty. They are crowded and they will tell you to leave after you have finished your meal.
Cinnamon rolls are very fresh and in many flavors. A bit (but just a bit) expensive though.
The best Syrian food in the city. Lamb shawarma plate is awesome, but the rest of the plates are also good.
Totally awesome. Many, many elephants to see and not that many other jeeps. The best place for elephants in Sri Lanka. Safari price is around 5000 LKR per person.
It’s an ok place just to crash. It has nice view of the Kandy lake and part of the city. It’s also well located on 15-min walking distance from downtown, rounding the lake. Breakfast was very good.
Ample and sandy, great for swimming. Really good. Not much cover from the sun though, just some resorts with umbrellas and restaurants. We didn’t mind.
Take the early safaris that start at 6 AM for a higher chance of seeing leopards and elephants.
Awesome place to stay. They will organize the Yala safari from there. Food is out of this world and rooms are very good. Owners are quite friendly. Recommended.
Rooms are every modern and cozy, with AC and water heat. Food is delicious. The owner and family are just amazing. A very nice beach is 10-minute walking distance, but I recommend Bentota beach more.
Sandy beach with lots of beach huts, beer and seafood. Ok for swimming, bodyboarding and spending the day.
Be careful swimming here, lots of currents in the water. There’s only some designated places with rocks in the front that are not dangerous. Ask the locals before going in. Sand is very nice.
Simply wonderful staying with Mama Daisy. Don’t expect much luxury, just amazing home cooked food and a good bed in a very welcoming place. Go turtle-watching from here.
Fancy place for the Sri Lankan standard. If you’re looking for pasta or to take a break from the usual Sri Lankan taste, here’s the place.
Awesome town, very tidy and different from the other Sri Lankan cities. Go to tea factories nearby and the falls. DO NOT miss this place, it’s magic.
See the strawberry plantation in the back and then have a strawberry smoothie for around 400 LKR.
Finding the place was not easy and currently is a dirt road, but the rooms and price were very good! Just don’t expect the host to speak english. It’s 10 minutes to Ella downtown.
It’s a small place but they have very tasty rice and curry and also rottis. The price is good.
Make sure your guide takes you to the 20-minute walk to the falls with a pond to swim. Absolutely amazing.
