ESPN: Memorial is the only gym in college hoops where the team benches run across the baselines and is known to give the 'Dores a home court advantage.
ESPN: The arena opened up during the 1993-1994 season where Corliss Williamson and the Hogs had a 16-0 home record and went on to win the National Championship. Not a bad first year for Bud Walton Arena.

ESPN: The arena’s name is a combo of two Tennessee legends (B. Ray Thompson & former UT prez Edward Boling), but the actual court is named “The Summitt,” in honor of Lady Vols b-ball coach Pat Summitt.
