In AD 80 after conquering Britain, the Romans built Lindum Colonia for retired legionaries, becoming the principle capital of Flavia Caesariensis. Go check out some of the oldest buildings in the UK.
Lee Nixon: Situated on the site of the southern gateway to the roman town Lindum Colonia. The present building dates from 1520, although a gateway has been here for over 1800 years.
