If your inclination is to get your bagel toasted (which they won't do), ask for well-done instead. Higher chance you'll get one that's still warm.

They don't have a toaster, which seems like it would be a wise investment for a bagel shop in NYC. Don't ask or they will scoff at you, rather ask if they have any warm bagels.
