Eric L: Not on the typical tourist list, but was recommended to us by a frequent visitor. It's a gorgeous, functioning post office.

Eric L: Come here for panoramic views of Mexico City, a manicured garden, and the royal residence. Free on Sundays.

Eric L: "Discovered" this place when we noticed people going through a door in the La Surtidora. Get the Matatlan, a mezcal cocktail. Free wifi. The bar food they give you (olives and cheese) cost 25 pesos.

Eric L: You probably can't go wrong with any dish here. What we got: duck tacos, spinach salad, ribs, and tlayuda. 13 different mezcal cocktails; we liked mezcal with tamarind.

Eric L: Great Mexican! Get the tostada atun, chile relleno, pulpos brasas, and flan. And as we saw, go through the refrigerator door for a speakeasy.

Eric L: Get the torchlight! It's a tequila based drink.
