Good move, naming the national airport after the doddering fool who fired all the air traffic controllers.
The Sky Priority/Pre-Check lines for the DL/AS gates are on the far right side near the DL shuttle check-in area. So if you see a long line, you can walk past everyone right up to the front ;).
Alex4월 20, 2019Not the best facility, but it’s efficient and that’s ultimately what matters. If you have CLEAR and aren’t checking luggage, you can arrive 30m before departure and easily make your flight.
If you want to grab a drink near the gates, make sure you have plenty of time because there may be no seats to order

Outlets are hard to come by near the gates at peak times. Bring a 2-, 3- or 4-way adapter and make friends.
So, so easy to get to. You cannot beat the convenience. Now they just need to put some respectable food beyond the TSA checkpoint. I pity anyone laying over here.
The United Staff are amazingly friendly... If you have an issue talk to Ms.C Franklin. She will get it resolved quickly an always with a smile .

Chris Sheehy7월 6, 2015Consider using the Metro to get from the airport to your hotel - it's super easy and cheaper than a cab in most cases.
Easy parking, you can take the metro directly to the airport, lots of clean bathrooms, easy to get on 395.
When you arrive, have your ride share pick you up on the upper deck. Much less congested due to the construction and easier to find each other.

Not a lot of charging areas but easy to navigate once you’re past the checkpoint. Getting to the terminals can be a challenge if you are not familiar with the layout. Wear comfortable shoes.
Abigail Wharff9월 18, 2014There is no Starbucks past check point so get your fix before. Only thing past checkpoint is McDonalds, Antie Anne's n 2 gourmet shops that serves warm n cold sandwiches (and muffins).
The cell-phone lot is always maxed out. If you're coming from the north on the GW Parkway, wait at the Roaches Run parking lot instead. It's got more spaces and much better planespotting.
I love this airport!! It is easy in and out. The TSA lines are never too long. I just wish I could get international flights in and out of here.
Great airport. If you fly southwest out of terminal A, do NOT check a bag. Return often takes 35+ minutes after arrival before bag is available
Joseph Stehman3월 2, 2015Beautiful skyline but a very annoying airport to navigate in. Oh yeah if you have to fly out of gate 35X you must go downstairs. 35X is actually 4 gates in one.
There’s a seat with an outlet on baggage claim level between doors 7 and 8 by the info desk. Great spot to charge up while waiting for your Uber.
Remember to spray a scarf with perfume or your fave smell so when the air gets stinky...you can just inhale!
Get to the airport even earlier if you're flying out of Terminal A. Waiting for the shuttle or making the half mile trek will cost you precious minutes!!!
TSA lines aren't as horrible as you think; it moves along fairly quickly. When you get to the departures level you will find plenty of dining options, but seating can be difficult if not impossible.
Rory Gagan11월 21, 2013This airport is far superior to Dulles. Friendly staff all around and free Wifi. Cheap, quick, and easy Metro ride to the city.
Drinks cost less inside the checkpoint than outside of it. Its worth the wait, and you get the added benefit of not having to hurry to drink it before the Tsa throw it away.
If you need a seat with a power outlet, the seat right next to Legal Seafood has two outlets to power up.
Easily my favorite airport - very quick and effective and with all the upgrades it'll soon be a restaurant hub@
Great airport. Very quick in and out. Not many options for sit down food but they are expanding in terminal C
TSA lines are always short and the flights are much more extensive than folks think. I have not used IAD in years.
Dab Garner7월 15, 2013One of the easier airports to get through security in a timely manner. My gate had decent food vendors nearby. I always use National when flying to DC.
This place is so convenient for the city. Grab a cab when arriving here but try and take the metro when coming back (cheaper). Downside: the Delta Sky club is pretty bad here.
Shrub10월 9, 2011DCA gets it done fast. Everything moves right along. The passengers are veterans at traveling unlike some other ports where everyone seems to be flying for the 1st time. Dress up. DCA is no slouch.
As others have said, lots of experienced travelers going through here so security is usually really breezy
Anthony Coley5월 4, 2019Busy, yet efficient airport. Beautiful interior architecture and short walks to the gates.
If you have to fly from gates 10 - 14 you'll find the corridors crowded & cramped. People just stand in the corridors by the gates. Best bet is to hunker down at the National Airport Grill by Gate 11.
First trip here since COVID closes everything. Airport is empty. Food court in SW terminal still open but little seating in restaurant due to social distancing.
