If you make your way behind the box office to the atrium you will find the exterior walls of two flint cottages and shops purchased for the theatre in 1979 to extend the original building.

This palace was the chief residence of the bishops of Winchester. The last great occasion was on 25 July 1554, when Queen Mary and Philip II of Spain held their wedding breakfast in the East Hall.
