The rug in the main stairwell was donated to the University by Leo Carlin '19 and his wife Celia in 1983. The University had few safe spaces to hang a 12'x18' carpet, and thus it hangs here!- The large lecture halls are windowless because when the building was designed, it was in the Midway Airport flight path, and noisy planes flew overheard frequently.
