My favorite Smithsonian museum hands-down...go on a weekday so it will be (a little) less crowded.
I love this museum but it was a 45 min wait every time we went by on 4th of July weekend.
The Largest Library in the World not under one roof getting there is a bit cumbersome however if you have easy access a membership is well worth it. They have any book you might think of.
The small museum has a replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and an Elizabethan garden in the back, and is nice to visit combined with a performance.
That's the best place to see in Washington. The view is amazing and the gardens are beautiful.
Be sure to check out the gift shop in the basement! Also the food here is pretty good so if your looking for somewhere to eat on the mall look no further!
The Cuban sandwich was amazing and they had a great selection of beer. Nice place to go with a mixed younger crowd
Fantastic drinks, particularly the Steady Cocktail. The staff are also very accommodating: without a reservation, they were able to sneak us in for a birthday drink despite a very hefty waitlist.
Best cocktails on H St- a great new addition. Get any of their smashes. Excellent bartenders. Also, good and cheap dumplings/skewers but the cocktails are def the highlight! Will definitely be back

Bet you never thought a crazy kitschy den of all things tiki could actually serve high-fructose-corn-syrup-free, all-natural drinks. This one can, and the cocktails hold up to the best in town.
I absolutely love this museum. The exhibits are stunning and interactive, with lots of relevant modern day applications. The dinosaur exhibit is my favorite, with the minerals a close second.
