Free Aroma chocolate w/ every buy! 10-veggie soup is chunky. Garlic croutons & egg & cheese croissant sandwich are good but a bit greasy. No need to order a "classic"..a "personal" size sammie is huge
Carrot ginger soup was all-natural & super healthy - no added sugar or salt- but only get it if you love super-gingery as well.

Great Borsht Soup = to a HK (Canto) cafe-style borscht. Crepe Aux Pomme Et Caramel tasted better after toasting in home oven. Pierogies were greasy & stuck together from poor styrofoam cup packaging
French onion soup was not too salty & 1 of the better ones I've had in NYC. Potato patty was better than the frites.
A new LOVE here: vegan "Bone" Broth (+ choice of any 3 veggies + extra $ to add protein + grain) w/ brussels sprouts, squash, broccoli, farro, & chicken. 1 of best veggie-based soups lately!
My #1 fave Salmon (grilled on top of curried rice) dish in NYC..timeless & consistent...even after 18+ yrs, I still crave it! I also love their curried chicken broth noodles & eggplant appetizer.
My Monterey go-to for seafood for 20+ yrs: NE clam chowder in a bread bowl, bucket of steamed clams, Cioppino + always a great view of the Bay & abundant marine life below Fisherman's Wharf!
Absolute fave: French Onion soup!! ;9 Choucroute is also good. Had Steak Frites w/ both Au poivre & red wine sauces on side-both great but I prefer the wine sauce. SKIP Les Halles & come here!

Both are tasty but pricey: Borsht Soup & Taste of Tbilise. Beef pelmenis were also good but, again, stuck together since they were poorly delivered & crammed into a small cup.
Pain de Gruyere = to die for. Your mouth won't know what to do except smile :) Get a loaf to go if the bakery line isn't too long. If so, you can buy at the table at restaurant price for $0.50 more.
Best Baguette: baguette Monge-slightly swollen at middle & slender at tips, crackly outer crust yielding to a moist, almost damp crumb...tastes buttery w/o butter, rich & complex w. a subtle tang.
Delicious French pastries. Obviously the chocolate croissant is a must, but the Yuzu pastry is also good!
Chocolate almond croissants were some of the best I've ever had, not too heavy or oily. We had lunch - salad was good, salmon was amazing.
THE place 4 raw seafood: $12.99/lb live lobsters (or cooked for more $), NE clam chowder, Jonah crab claws, stone crab claws, bottarga, uni, & best variety & value of fresh E & W coast oysters in NYC!
Come after midnight and you can literally split an entire galbi/kalbi meal with soondubu and hella banchan for around $12 between 2 people. Best, probably yummiest late night deal in NYC โค๏ธ

Touted as 1 of Hamptons' best clam chowders but they were out when we were here. Ok burgers (esp. w/ their BBQ sauce) & vinegary Cole slaw.
My other faves: NE clam chowder, MD-style Crabcakes, local fried scallops, potato salad, & corn on the cob (when in season July~early Sept)!
Know what ur getting...ask waitress to bring #1 (larger) vs #2 (smaller) Blue Claw crabs to compare sizes - varies daily! I eat 'em Shanghainese way-simply steamed-w/ Chiangkang Black Vinegar sauce!

Dunno how German it really is but NE clam chowda & Jaeger schnitzel were surprisingly good. Potato pancakes tasted like hash brown patties served w/ apple sauce. Service ok.
Good NE clam chowda, cole slaw & lobster roll (1/4 or 1/2 lb meat). Stars are fried scallops, onion rings & lobster stew (more watery lobster bisque w/ tons of meat). Trying Strawberry cake next time
My fave shack w/ outdr seating & view of Casco Bay. Super fresh & cheap: fried scallops, crab+lobster rolls, lobsters right off boat! Clam Chowda's full of clams. + BEST blueberry ice cream ever! ;9

This 100-yr old Macanese is legendary for roasted pigeon..& delish oxtail soup, African Ckn,& Stewed Ckn in Port Wine.
A great place to grab a quick bite. They have an assortment of yummy sandwiches, soups & salads. Skip the pizza. Get their potato salad, a BEC & try their soups!
Not a fan of Ipswich clam w/ a siphon (gross foot/tail). I go 4 smaller Littlenecks or medium-sized Topnecks / Middlenecks & wish MCโs steamed 1โs werenโt gritty. No Manila & Razor Clams to be found:(
