Kids under 12 don't have to go through the backscatter body scanner, they can go through the old school scanner!
Jared B1월 15, 2011If you have time and want to sit at the bar and get a hot meal and a drink while watching the game, don't go thru security to your terminal or you will be stuck with candy bars, chips and a pop.
Terminal C (by gate C125) has a Juan Valdez kiosk. Best coffee at the airport!
Landing here after vacation is one of the most depressing things ever. Even the flight attendants seem upset. Terminal A is freezing in the summer and an oven in the winter.
CLEAR is new here...... makes life so much easier during morning crush!
Out of the three tri state airports this ranks as number two. Outside the United Terminal, terminals B & C are pitiful. The Airtrain is slow tiny and old. So be sure to allocate the appropriate time

Do not buy your tea right after security when your gate is 84. While balancing your luggage, you will spill the insane hot tea and burn your hand.
Newark is good alternative to JFK, smaller,less crowed and getting to and from the airport into the City will cost you the same. But (terminal B at least) is old, outdated and has no real facilities.
Davis S6월 29, 2017Reserve at least 2.5h for international connections to the US. Airport is crowded and slow moving. Trains connecting terminals are stuffed and do not run on time.
Cancer-Causing Full Body Scanners (aka TSA Death Machines) in use. Request a normal pat down instead--if more than one at a time does it, they just have you go through the metal detector
Are you thinking about not paying $80 to get into NYC? Feel like the $16 bus is a good idea? Wrong: 15 minutes is a different concept to them, stop and wait at every stop; take the train. Or walk.
Some of the food lines move at a snail's pace. Be prepared of you have a tight connection.
Dave Nabi9월 16, 2013Hotel shuttles leave from P4 so take the Air Train there. One stop further is NJ Transit connection.
Give yourself plenty of time to get through security...or get TSA pre-approved to fly though before flying out of this airport.
Come early security delays are annoying. To self park for over a day u must take a bus to ur terminal. Not like other airports where u park and walk in.
Maddening security lines! They still haven't figured out how to staff appropriately for Friday's volume. Get it together!
Watch out for lousy drivers, heavy Port Authority Police presence, delays and every nightmare you can possibly find in an airport (including getting lost!)
Wish I could read these tips before I checked in. Friday before Xmas the line for security wrapped around to terminal B.

If you use Über, text your driver your EXACT location (terminal, level and door). The GPS on the locates everyone in Terminal B, level 1 by default.

This airport is compact, serves the world and is well-connected to Manhattan. The food vendors suck here, though, so don't come hungry. Cheap eats? Dunkin' has a shop in baggage claim, terminal C.
Terminal A is not a place you want to spend a long time hanging around. Unless you enjoy pain.

Manhattan to Newark? Take the path trains for $1.75 to Penn stn NJ and either train or cab the rest of the way. Affordable and easy
Betsy B.3월 28, 2013Off-site parking shuttles pick up & drop off @ TERM. C, not P4 as shown on signs. NJ Transit, use your ticket to get on AirTrain which takes to train station, which is not actually at the airport.- If you travel internationally and land at Newark or JFK a lot, you should seriously consider joining the government's Global Entry system and avoid the immigration lines. Well worth $100 for 5 years.
